"The Parsifal Mosaic" written by Robert Ludlum, gouache, 1990
This is an illustration done for the Easton Press for their "Masters of Suspense" series.
In the story, one of the main characters was always playing chess with one of his
neighbors. Being the good spy story it was,this had a great significance to the storyline
but the connection would not be made till you've read the entire novel. No, I didn't give
anything away by saying that. The design on the background of all the
illustrations was a chessboard pattern.
